The opposition BJP today accused Maharashtra’s ruling coalition partners — the Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) — of supporting Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray for inciting violence against north Indians in the state.

Party leader Ravidhankar Prasad said: “The Congress and the NCP are propping Raj Thackeray (leader of the MNS) against the Shiv Sena, led by Bal Thackeray, for vote-bank politics.”

However, the BJP clearly finds itself in a quandary over Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray and his son Uddhav’s recent support to the anti-north Indian stance of the MNS.

The BJP is in no mood to condemn the senior Thackeray, whose party (Shiv Sena) is one of the most long-lasting constituents of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), on the issue of violence against the north Indians.
