The six seats and candidates are : Gandhinagar in Gujarat to be fought by L K Advani, two seats in Punjab, Amritsar for Navjyot Singh Sidhu and Gurudaspur to be fought by Vinod Khanna. Panjim in Goa is to be fought by Sripad Rao Naik, Hamirpur in Himachal Pradesh by Anurag Thakur, and Pauri for Lt. General T P S Rawat.
"With this we announce the Sri Ganesh (beginning) of our Lok Sabha campaign," said senior party leader M Venkaiah Naidu. The party also had a meeting of its core group where it was decided that a 30 point action plan for the Lok Sabha polls would be distributed in party offices across the country.
"Other than this, in every state one or the other central leader will go periodically to oversee the preparations for the polls. Also there are 297 seats across the country where the BJP has won on its won between 1996-2004, here we have decided to hold constituency sabhas," said Venkaiah Naidu.
Party sources have confirmed that apart from Venkaiah Naidu all other senior party leaders in the Rajya Sabha will be fighting Lok Sabha polls this time round. L K Advani will be addressing a rally in Kanpur tomorrow signaling the start of the party's election campaign.
