Even as the first signs of discord among the striking truckers became apparent today with reports of transport unions in Andhra Pradesh, Orissa and West Bengal deciding to call of the strike, representatives of the All-India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC) said today they had been invited by BJP leaders for talks.
J M Saksena, general secretary of the union, said its president, B N Dhumal, had been invited by BJP general secretary Pramod Mahajan to meet party president Venkiah Naidu.
Chances of an early end to the strike, which entered its eighth day today, appeared dim. The transporters rejected a government appeal to end the stir yesterday.
