BJP today demanded repolling in two assembly segments in Arunachal West parliamentary constituency of the north-eastern state, accusing the Congress of "massive rigging" in the Lok Sabha poll held on April 16.
The main opposition party claimed that 35 polling stations in Mukto and Palin assembly segments witnessed voting in excess of 100% and accused the ruling Congress of rigging the polls.
BJP MP from Arunachal West Kiren Rijiju, who is seeking re-election, today met Chief Election Commissioner Navin Chawla and petitioned him to conduct repoll in entire Mukto and Palin assembly segments.
He said re-poll should be held in 66 polling stations.
Flashing voter turnout documents signed by poll officers, he claimed the poll authority figures showed that votes in excess of 100% were cast in several polling stations.
"Palin constituency registered 102.53% polling, while Mukto assembly constituency witnessed 97.47% polling," Rijiju said.
He alleged that polling agents of the BJP and other parties were forcefully removed from the polling stations by men who captured booths.
"The security (personnel) at all the polling stations were unable to stop the rigging as each polling station was guarded by a lady police and a constable armed with batons," Rijiju said.
