Accusing the UPA government of being 'soft' on terror, the BJP today demanded a white paper on the activities of banned Islamic outfit SIMI and made a fresh demand for re-enactment of POTA and other anti-terror laws.
"The government should bring out a white paper on the SIMI on the basis of all information it has," senior BJP leader L K Advani told a press conference here.
The government should accept the fact that there is a threat to national security from SIMI, he said, adding that because of the "failure" of the Union Home Ministry, the ban on SIMI was lifted by a special tribunal.
"In fact, once the government had itself allowed the ban to lapse," Advani said to drive home his point that the government was "soft" on terror.
