BJP leader from Radhanpur in Banaskantha district, Memabhai Chaudhary, yesterday resigned from the party and joined the Rashtriya Janata Party (RJP), headed by Gujarat Chief Minister Shankarsinh Vaghela.
Chaudhary joined the RJP alongwith his 15,000 followers at a function here. He was the BJP candidate for the Radhanpur Assembly constituency last year.
Meanwhile, the resignation of an independent MLA from Radhanpur, Lovingji Solanki, was accepted by Assembly speaker Gumansinh Veghela.

Solanki tendered his resignation to enable Chief Minister Vaghela to contest the Assembly seat.
Chaudhary, who lost to Solanki by a margin of 330 votes, also extended support to the Chief Minister.
The general secretary of RJP, Narsi Padhiar and minister of state for energy, Vipul Chaudhary were present at the function.
