With Karnataka Governor H R Bhardwaj indicating on Friday that he would take action on the report of the Lokayukta on illegal mining, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s problems are far from over. The leaked report of Lokayukta Santosh Hegde has reportedly indicted Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa in mining and land scams.
Even before the Lokayukta report was formally sent to the state government, NDA partners have decided to ask the BJP leadership to take action against Yeddyurappa and ask him to resign. “We will talk to the BJP leadership and would demand for just action from them. They are our allies and we are confident that justice will be done on this issue,” said Sharad Yadav, NDA convener and Janata Dal (United) president.
This was not the first time Yadav was voicing his displeasure on the issue of corruption surrounding the Karnataka chief minister. The JD(U) had approached the BJP leadership on two earlier occasions to get rid of Yeddyurappa. He had said that if they wanted to continue with the anti-corruption campaign against the Union government, both inside and outside the Parliament, it was necessary to get Yeddyurappa out of the way.
