Samming the UPA government on the corruption issue, BJP today said it would highlight the scams facing the Centre in its campaign for the forthcoming local bodies and Assembly polls in the capital.

"There is a crisis of credibility in this government. The government at the Centre has lost the ability to take decisions and to provide leadership. The charges of corruption against this government are such that the scams of the past look small in comparison," BJP leader Arun Jaitley said.

He was speaking at a party programme organised as part of the BJP Delhi unit's Jan Sangarsh Yatra which is aimed at reaching out to the people ahead of the urban local bodies elections to be held soon as well as the Assembly polls due next year.

Jaitley said the scale of corruption and kickbacks in the Bofors scam which led to the Rajiv Gandhi government losing the elections was only Rs 64 Crore.

"But in the 2G spectrum scam the country has incurred a loss of Rs 1.76 lakh crore. We will make these scams in UPA a poll issue both in the Corporation elections to be held this year and the Assembly polls due next year," Jaitley said.

He told the party cadre that whichever party sets the agenda has an edge over its competitors and the opposition should make corruption in Sheila Dikshit government in Delhi as well as scams at the Centre a poll plank.
