The state BJP has decided to launch campaign to "educate" Muslims in the state on mass irregularities committed by the State Wakf Board in dealing with Wakf land and has come out with booklet in Urdu and Marathi which will be distributed in Muslim-dominated localities of Mumbai and Marathwada region of the state.

The state government had to announce a judicial probe into the irregularities of Wakf land following the alleged sale of Wakf land in posh Malabar hill area of Mumbai to Mukesh Ambani-owned company for multi-storied residence of Ambani.

Similarly, sale of Wakf land to company in which Chief Minister Vilsrao Desmukh's brother was director also become contentious issue. This issue became handy tool in hands of opposition during recently concluded state legislature's monsoon session.

The booklet titled 'Secular Corruption of Congress-NCP Government' has been authored by the state BJP president Nitin Gadkari. 10,000 copies in Urdu and 2,500 copies in Marathi have been published and given to the district units of Maharashtra BJP for distribution.

Speaking with mediapersons Gadkari said, "He decided to author the book following the overwhelming response he got from the minority community after he took up the issue in the state legislature."

The text of his speech in the state legislature had been published on the front pages of prominent Urdu dailies from the state. The speech of state's Wakf Minister Anis Ahmad bitter rival of Wakf Board Chairman and Congress MLC M A Aziz, where he admitted of irregularities in the Wakf land, has been published prominently in the booklet.
