Prof Rajinder Bhandari, president Punjab the state BJP today termed the hike as "gravest form of economic aggression" that could be committed against the common man. His party could not take it lying down, he added.
While talking to media persons here, he said that the congress "had come down as a sharp slap on the face of the common man." Demanding the roll back of this hike, Bhandari said that government could easily reduce the duty and thus keep the prices intact but the UPA government was worried about its own exchequer than the fate of the common man.
"The prices of petrol and diesel can be reduced substantially as these products carry about 50 per cent duty on them," he said.
