BJP to take on Congress over farm crisis, realty

Ahead of the Budget session of Parliament, the BJP is gearing up to take on the UPA government on several fronts, most noticeably on continuing agrarian distress and unregulated growth in several sectors of the economy, especially real estate.

Reacting to Congress President Sonia Gandhi's recent interactions with farmers, BJP spokesperson PrakashJavadekar said even as Gandhi was meeting farmers in Uttar Pradesh, over 12 farmers committed suicide in three days in Vidarbha in Maharashtra.

Senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi has demanded that the government set up a regulator for the real estate sector.

"The regulator will not only check antecedents of developers but also help mitigate the problem of reasonable housing and problems of urban living," said Joshi.
