Bengal National Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BNCCI), the government of West Bengal (GoWB) and India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) will host the 18th Industrial India Trade Fair 2004 (IITF) between December 20-31 this year in the city. |
China is the partner country and jute the theme of this year's fair, said BNCCI president S N Nundy. |

He said the 2004 fair would show a rise in the number of participants from last year's figure of 800. |

"With the growth in participation response, BNCCI expects at least 15 per cent rise in order booking from last year's performance of Rs 73 crore", said Samir K Ghosh, chairman- 18th IITF. |

The business enquiries that were generated during IITF 2003 were in the tune of Rs 130 crore, he claimed. |

In addition to regular events , there will be buyer-seller meets with Chinese delegates and exhibitors. |

Domestic companies like Peerless, ITC, State Bank of India and National Centre for Jute Diversification (NCJD) will rub shoulders with companies from Bhutan, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Iran besides of course China. |

The Chinese delegation would be headed by the chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT). |

More than 20 organisations from three province of China will participate, primarily from Hunan and Wang Dong. |

The units will be exhibiting products of a varied range from iron art equipment to engineering equipment, said Ghosh. |

"The fair will pave the way in identifying joint venture partners and tie ups for several organisations", he claimed. |

Asok Gupta, chief secretary of West Bengal, said IITF would provide a chance to small and medium enterprises to project themselves along with the market giants. |

If the trend of the past few years is sustained, the number of visitors could cross 10 lakh this year. |
