The explosions took place far away but the weekend terror strikes cast a shadow on the alleys of the walled city area in the capital.
Old Delhi is the place one cannot afford to miss during the holy month of Ramzan with lots of the festivities lined up for the occasion but after yesterday's serial bombings here the mood was definitely subdued.
Five near-simultaneous strikes at important locations in the city snuffed out 21 innocent lives and left 98 injured.
Though most of the people near the majestic Jama Masjid were not aware of the blasts as they took place during the time for 'iftar' (breaking fast), their first reaction after they were informed of them was anger.
"This is unpardonable. Killing of innocent people is a crime under all religions," was the refrain of Saukat Ansari, an engineer who had come to old Delhi with his family for iftar.
"Though life and death depend on destiny but nowadays you don't know. Anything can happen anywhere," he reasoned.
