Persistent efforts by WTO Chief Pascal Lamy and other key players like India are likely to break the deadlock on the Doha Round of trade talks with a strong possibility of a mini-ministerial meeting next week in Davos. With over 30 trade ministers - including from India, Brazil, US and EU converging for the World Economic Forum meeting at the Swiss ski resort - chances are bright that trade talks stalled since July last year could get back on track."I hope that the process gets started and time lines are set for completion of the round," Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath, who will be leading the 100-member delegation to Davos said. While Lamy has been travelling to various national capitals in the recent weeks, more players - both from developed and developing countries - too are willing to show flexibility."My understanding is that the US and EU have started testing new positions. Something is cooking but it is not at the point of being served. It also needs Indian spices. Other chefs like Japan and Australia will also have to contribute to it," Lamy said last week.
