Portability in finance, cheaper water supply, flexible rules and quality power are top on wish list of Micro, Small and Medium scale industries of Madhya Pradesh ahead of exclusive session of Global Investors Summit-V (GIS-V). Bhopal will host the exclusive session as a part of the GIS-V, on 1 October this year. The GIS-V will be organized on 22-23 October, 2016, in Indore. The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is official partner of the state government in hosting the event.
"We want proper focus in the summit though it seems it would be a day-long exercise of presentation sessions on the part of government. MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) in Pithampur demands cheaper land, cheaper water supply, flexible rules, quality power and issuance of notifications for those industries which are in special economic zone," Gautam Kothari, president of Pithampur Audyogik Sangthan told Business Standard.
Kothari further said, industries are getting round-the-clock power but quality of power or unscheduled power cut put have financial burden on certain small scale units. "Plastic goods manufacturing units, moulding units etc, lose material on each power cut thereby resulting in financial losses," he informed.
In past, the state government had included MSMEs in global investors' summit but they were somehow shadowed with presence of large number of big-ticket investors. This season, state government has decided to organise a separate session in Bhopal for MSMEs.
"The MSME session would be for local industries and they would be given a proper weightage," Anthony JC De Sa, state chief secretary told Business Standard.
The main GIS event will invite investors from sectors like agriculture & food processing, forest and herbal, industries, infrastructure, IT-ITES, minerals, power including renewable energy, textile and tourism.

Local industries of Govindpura in Bhopal have also demanded portability in finance and flexible rules. "As of now costly finance is the key issue before micro and small scale industries. We get costly loans and we have no option to port it from one bank to the other. Also certain rules and regulation for MSMEs are too tough to comply and hence the sector becomes uncompetitive. We will raise both the issues prominently in the coming session," Yogesh Goel, past secretary of the Govindpura Industries Association said to Business Standard.
Unavailability of cheaper finance dogs the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) for many years in Madhya Pradesh. Further mother units like BHEL, tough economic conditions and government sop and facilities available to SMEs at par with that of large and medium scale are some issues the local SME sector wants to address in the forthcoming GIS.
Recently state chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan visited the US to showcase state's potential and has clocked business deal of Rs 1000 crore in information technology sector. "These deals would create another 10000 jobs in the state," Chouhan said.
The CII will also put forth its ongoing agenda in the MSME meet in Bhopal. "The exclusive session will provide a platform and an opportunity for the MSME sector to interact with the state government. Also we will move ahead with the continuous process of demanding an improvement to the present environment like ease-of-doing business, further development of infrastructure and access to finance," Sudhir Mehta, chairman of CII Western region told Business Standard.
A mega exhibition will also be organized at the GIS to show case potential of the state. As many as 3000 delegates from home and 500 from abroad are expected in the summit. Of them 1000 will be from Madhya Pradesh, 1000 from other states.
