In a New Year gift to 40 million telephone users in the country, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd has slashed the peak time STD tariffs by more than 60 per cent from Rs 24 per minute to Rs 9 per minute.
BSNL has in effect taken the fight right into the enemy camp by announcing an across-the-board tariff reduction which would be effective from January 14. The price war in STD rates was started by Bharti Group last week when it announced that it will bring down STD rates from a peak time rate of Rs 24 per minute to Rs 12 per minute from January 26.
