Bt Cotton: Navbharat Seeds May Have To Cough Up Rs 11 Crore

Navbharat Seeds, the Ahmedabad-based company which sold the Bt (Bacillus thuringiensis) cotton seeds to farmers in Gujarat, may have to shell out over Rs 11 crore as compensation. With almost 5,000 acres of Bt cotton set to be destroyed, the compensation could go up substantially if it has to include cost of inputs like fertilisers and pesticides.
