West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee will take up with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh the issue of appointment of a new governor for the state, after the completion of Gopalkrishna Gandhi's term.
Bhattacharjee, who left here for Delhi today to attend a two-day CPI-M Politburo meeting beginning tomorrow, would meet Singh and Union Home Minister P Chidambaram either tomorrow or the day after, party sources here said.
Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee would meet Chidambaram after receiving his letter calling for steps to check spurt in political violence and that by Naxalites in the western part of the state, the sources said.
He is also likely to seek the prime minister's intervention in the setting up of the proposed airport city project ‘Aerotropolis’ near Durgapur in Burdwan district, the state's hold over its own coal blocks, the jute packaging problem as well as the acute dredging problem in Haldia dock.
Politburo members Biman Bose and Nirupam Sen also left for Delhi during the day.
