We wish for introduction of Goods and Services Tax in retail, which will help streamline taxes, help retailers set off service tax and bring the majority of transactions under the tax net. It is also likely to bring down retail prices in a number of categories. We also expect import tariffs to come down to a maximum of 40 per cent.
This will also have a positive impact on retail prices of a majority of products. We also wish for a focus on job creation — both in urban and rural areas — and a softer interest rate regime. Both can help improve consumer sentiments.
