The annual event of ‘My Build-2008’ exhibition of the Builders’ Association of India (BAI), Mysore, has attracted around 200 firms displaying conventional and emerging building technologies of the future.
The displays cover a wide range of construction machinery, building materials and gadgets, tiles, doors and frames, aluminum items, paints, interior decorative, sanitary materials etc.
Premier Properties and Enclaves, the main sponsors, Birla Super and Ultra Tech, patron sponsors, Maruti Steel Fab, SBI, Supreme Blacks, Vijay Glass House, Regent, Ceramics Palace, Vyshak Group of Hotels, Rajasthan Marbles, Patak Constructions, Yadiyuru Siddalingeshwara Enterprises, Pyramid Timbers, Padma Enterprises, Kohinoor Hardware, Seimens, Phoenix Engineers, Ganesh Saw Mills, Tata Tescon, Kumar Aluminum, Harihant Marbles, Onida, Darla Ceramic, Asian Tiles, Krishna Timber Depot, sponsors, CREST of the National Institute of Engineering are among the participants.
A green park is an added attraction with display of items related to green concept construction technology. It is set up with the objective of taking green park concept to small towns, The park includes rain water harvesting, a concept that is catching up in urban areas as part of domestic and commercial water management and cut water wastage.
The five-day exhibition to conclude on December 15 is receiving good response from public and builders at the Maharaja’s College grounds.
‘My Build’ is a part of the Mysore BAI’s ‘Build Tech’ annual event. This year’s annual seminar on November 13 and 14 laid focus on ‘Green concepts in planning and building.’ About 15 speakers from within India and abroad spoke on green concepts in the construction industry, highlighting on the expanding awareness across the globe and emerging technologies suitable for the construction industry. Over 300 participants are expected to attend the two-day national seminar.
“We live in an exciting moment in the green building movement. At no other time, has the profound impact of built-up environments gained so much public interest as in the recent days. Now it is time to update ourselves on what is emerging, envision the future, step into the world of futuristic buildings,” said BAI Mysore President Ravindra Bhat.

The Mysore Centre is holding the national seminar since 2001 on newer aspects of the construction industry. Each year, the conference has grown to meet the needs of industry leaders, practitioners, and home owners.
This year, the convention focussed on the interface of green building, innovation and technology, he said.
Town planners, architects, visiting faculty members, bio-diversity consultants, green advocates and other experts spoke on a number of issues concerning integration of green concepts in planning and building.
Topics comprised green building and eco-houses, anatomy of green building, greening the growing cities, trash-to-cash, urban sustainability, energy and architecture, and passive and active energy systems for green buildings.
