The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs today approved setting up of mini tool rooms in the country under Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode, for helping the small and medium enterprises (SMEs).This was a proposal from the ministry of micro small and medium enterprise. The Cabinet decision would enable opening of these tool rooms possible through collaboration between the state government, private companies, NGOs and even Individuals.Already 10 such tool rooms are functioning in various parts of the country.The proposal is one of the key recommendations of National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council set up by Centre with a view to improve the competitiveness of industries particularly micro, small and medium enterprises.These tool rooms are being set up to create more facilities for designing and manufacturing of quality tools, dies, jigs, fixtures and to provide skilled manpower to micro, small and medium enterprises by conducting skill development programmes.
