The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet today approved senior level changes in ministries of mines, tourism and consumer affairs. It approved appointment of R H Khwaja as secretary in mines ministry and Parvez Diwan as secretary in the tourism ministry, a government statement said. Ramesh Abhishek, currently member and acting chairman of commodities market regulator Forward Markets Commission has been appointed as chairman of the commission.
Vishwapati Trivedi, secretary in the ministry of mines has been appointed as chairman of the Inland Waterways Authority of India. Khwaja, a 1976 IAS from the Andhra Pradesh cadre is currently secretary in the tourism ministry.
Diwan, a 1977 batch IAS from Jammu & Kashmir cadre, is currently secretary in the ministry of overseas Indian affairs. Abhishek is a 1982 batch IAS officer from Bihar cadre. Trivedi is a 1977 batch IAS belonging to Madhya Pradesh cadre.
