Cabinet may take up food processing tech fund

The Union Cabinet, which is scheduled to meet tomorrow, is likely to consider the setting up of a Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme (TUFS) for the food processing sector, on the lines of the TUFS in textiles.
 
The Cabinet committee on economic affairs, which is also expected to meet, will consider a proposal to undertake audit for the Food Corporation of India by the Comptroller and Auditor General.
 
Some of the other proposals on the agenda include approving an increase in management cost for the National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme, the Tungabhadra steel plant's future, the Gujarat Control of Organised Crime Bill, creation of a national spatial data infrastructure and setting up a jute technology mission.
 
Rescheduling of duties for share issue to Mazagaon docks and establishment of a North-East institute of ayurveda and homeopathy are also likely to be taken up.
