Union cabinet secretary KM Chandrasekhar on Monday visited the project sites of the International Container Transshipment Terminal (ICTT) at Vallarpadam and the LNG Terminal at Puthuvype, near here. The cabinet secretary inspected these facilities from the waterfront and drove to the project sites to evaluate the progress of these mega national projects.
N Ramachandran, chairman of Cochin Port Trust (CPT) briefed him on the various developmental and modernisation projects taken up by the CPT.
Construction of the terminal structures as well as the rail connectivity are nearly complete. Two lanes of the four-lane road connectivity between Kalamassery and Vallarpadam are also nearing completion. The dredging work for deepening of the channels and the berth front areas are in progress.
