Three weeks after being slammed by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) for alleged irregularities in certain CWG projects, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today questioned the findings of the report and claimed she was not indicted by the auditor.
“All that was alleged was totally false," Dikshit told reporters after a meeting of the Congress Legislature Party. The CLP meeting was called to finalise strategies for the monsoon session of Delhi Assembly which begins on Monday, as the BJP is set to corner the government on the CAG report.
“Everybody knows the myths about the report and the real truths behind," Dikshit said, claiming even the CAG had clarified she was not indicted by the auditor.
“The CAG had, in a press conference (on Aug 5), denied there was any (indictment)," she said. Dikshit said all party MLAs were given a presentation so that they could better defend the government in the assembly session if the BJP raised the CAG report. The aim of the presentation was to make them understand the CAG report, sources said.
BJP has been demanding Dikshit's resignation following the CAG report and has accused Congress of "maintaining double standards and going on the overdrive to save her".
The CAG report, which was tabled in the parliament, has pointed out several "irregularities” in various projects, including the streetlighting and streetscaping undertaken by the government in the run-up to the Commonwealth Games held in October last year.
The Delhi government had rejected all the allegations made against her in the report.

Dikshit said the Assembly would not be able to discuss the report as it was before the Public Accounts Committee of the parliament.
"The Speaker will have to take a decision on the issue," she said. Responding to a question on BJP’s criticism of the duration of the assembly's monsoon session, Dikshit said the opposition party was never interested in any fruitful discussion in the House. The House will sit for only five days for the monsoon session.
