Noida Power Company Ltd (NPCL), the joint venture between the RPG group and Greater Noida Development Authority, will turn six on December 15, and has lined up a slew of new services, including a virtual over-the-counter power connection service.
The company, which is the first experiment with privatisation of power distribution in India and operates in Greater Noida, sold 144 million units last year and added 2,000 new consumers.
Besides a voice recognition billing enquiry system over the telephone, the first ever by a public electricity distribution company, the company has also extended the existing network by 60 circuit km during 1998-99, an 8 per cent increase.
