In a move to strengthen its bilateral ties with India, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper has announced to open Trade Office in Ahmadabad.
Harper while delivering key note speech at a function organised by the Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICC) here yesterday said his country was committed to expanding bilateral relations with India.
"Canada has made India a priority nation for upgrading ties, and is committed expanding its relations with the country," Harper said.
"The products and services that Canada and India produce and what each country needs are complementary. The strong linkages offered by a vibrant Indo-Canadian community represent further untapped potential in the relationship," he said.
Harper also said that the biggest challenge before the country was shortage of labour force, and to meet that challenge the government had made number reforms in its immigration laws.
REL Aryan, High Commissioner of India; Deeps Iberia, Parliamentary secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, welcomed the Prime Ministers decision to open Trade Office in Ahmadabad.

Aisha Lutheran, ICC President, welcomed the Canadian government's support in getting the waiver from the Nuclear Suppliers' Group (NSG) last week, and said that it was a turning point in bilateral relations.
A copy of "the Power List," published by India Abroad that highlights contributions made by Indo-Canadians in the country was presented to the Prime Minister by its editor Ajit Jain in the presence of dignitaries.
Over 400 businessmen from both countries attended the function.
