Care Hospital to invest Rs 400cr

Hyderabad-based Care Hospitals, one of India’s leading healthcare chains would invest about Rs 400 crore on setting up multi-speciality hospitals in different locations across the country. These hospitals are expected to be operational within 18 months and would have a total capacity of 1,800 beds.

LV Rajendra Kumar, chief of business development, Care Hospitals said, “We have lined up an investment of about Rs 400 crore for setting up new hospitals which are expected to be operational within 18 months. These hospitals would come up in locations like Hyderabad, Pune, Raipur, Surat, Nagpur, Vizag and Bhubaneswar and they would have a cumulative capacity of 1,800 beds.”

Care Hospitals is investing Rs 100 crore in setting up its third hospital in Vizag, This hospital spread over an area of five acres is scheduled to be operational within 18 months.

The healthcare chain is also aiming to set up its second hospital in Pune and Raipur. While the 100-bed hospital in Raipur would be inaugurated in April this year, the hospital in Pune also consisting of 100 beds is expected to be operational by the end of 2009.

In Nagpur, Care Hospital is taking over an existing hospital to develop into a multi-speciality hospital. In Surat, the hospital chain is setting up a multi-speciality hospital with emphasis on cardiac care. The hospital in Surat is being set up at an investment of Rs 60 crore and is scheduled to be functional within 18 months.

Care Hospital is also planning to set up a new, state-of-the-art hospital in Hyderabad at an investment of Rs 80 crore. This hospital which would cater to both high-end and middle income group patients would be the fifth hospital of the healthcare chain in Hyderabad.

Earlier, Care Hospital had announced an investment of Rs 60-80 crore for setting up its second hospital in Bhubaneswar which was scheduled to be operational by the middle of 2010. It had already taken possession of four and a half acres of land in the city for setting up its second hospital which would offer new areas of super-speciality treatment like neuro-surgery and advanced cardiac surgery.

At present, Care Hospitals runs 14 hospitals in different locations of the country with a total bed strength of about 1,400. The healthcare chain runs its hospitals in Hyderabad, Pune, Raipur, Nagpur, Vizag, Vijayawada, Surat and Bhubaneswar.
