A case has been registered against the chairman and 42 directors of Akola District Central Co-operative Bank for alleged violation of rules in disbursing advances.
The complaint, lodged by Shrikrishna Govind Andhare and Jagadish Awadhut Murumkar alleging irregularities in releasing advances worth Rs 41 crore to Akola Zilla Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana, includes minister of state for transport Subhash Thakre, legislators Vasantrao Dhotre and Vijay Jadhav, former minister of state Vasantrao Dhotre, former legislators, Motiram Lahane, Kisanrao Raut, Suhas Tidke and Subash Zanak.
Other prominent names include former chairman of the bank and leader of the cooperative movement in the region, V R Korpe, and his son, chairman of Akola District Central Co-operative Bank, Santosh Kumar Korpe.

The complainants had approached the Civil Lines police last month, but later moved the Bombay High Court because the police delayed the case. The police later registered the offences on directions form the court.
Based on the audit report and directions of joint registrar of co-operative societies, Amravati, district sub-registrar B D Zalake had issued a notice in the first week of July to the chairman and board of directors of Akola District Central Co-operative Bank seeking explanations for the violation of rules in disbursing advances to the sugar factory.
The district sub-registrar had raised eight objections in the disbursement of loans during 1992-2002.
The audit report had taken serious objections on the inadequate surety in case of some loans.
