The CBI has chargesheeted six accused in the Rs 950 crore animal husbandry scam, including the alleged kingpin involved, Shyam Behari Sinha. The chargesheet was filed in the court of the special judge, S K Lal, here on Tuesday. This is the ninth chargesheet since the investigation into the scam was handed over to the CBI in March last year. Besides Sinha, a former regional director of the state animal husbandry department Ranchi, others whose name figure in the chargesheet are J Bhengraj, a former regional director, Brajbhushan Prasad, dismissed budget-cum-disbursing officer, Chandra Bhusan Dubey, dismissed treasury officer, and Suresh Dubey and Mahendra Prasad (both fodder and medicine suppliers), sources said.
The chargesheet was submitted in connection with a regular case relating to alleged fraudulent drawals of over Rs 1.48 crore by ahd officials and suppliers from the district treasury at ranchi.
