The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has summoned Kadapa MP, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, to explain his role in the illegal iron ore mining case involving Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) owned by former Karnataka minister Gali Jandardhan Reddy.

The OMC promoter, as well as its managing director, are already in judicial custody here after they were arrested on September 5 in the ongoing investigation launched at the behest of the state Government last year. Th CBI is also investigating into the assets of Jagan and investment flows into his companies after the AP High Court directed for a full probe a couple of months ago.

Jagan’s turn, however, seems to have come a bit early with the CBI asking him to be present at its office in Hyderabad in connection with the OMC case on Friday.

A company named Red Gold, allegedly floated by Jagan, had entered into an agreement with OMC for part supply of iron ore soon after the mining leases were granted to OMC in Anantapur district bordering Karnataka.

A senior CBI official confirmed the development.

CBI appears to be probing the case from Jagan's angle as the alleged iron ore mining scam has rooted in the orders issued by the AP government when his father YS Rajasekhara Reddy was chief minister.
