Ccd To Meet On Jan 18 To Discuss Jessop Proposal

The Cabinet Committee on Disinvestment will meet on January 18 to clear restructuring proposals for Jessop Ltd and Paradeep Phosphates.

In addition to the above, it will also finalise the time-table for calling of bids for the remaining Hotel Corporation of India (HCI) properties and the second tranche of the Indian Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) hotels.

In case of Paradeep Phosphates, the government is proposing a restructuring package involving conversion of a Rs 85-crore loan into equity.

In addition, outstanding debts to the Moroccan and Tunisian governments to the tune of Rs 400 crore are to be cleared before the company is put up for sale, said officials. The government proposes to offer 74 per cent stake in the company to a strategic partner.

The disinvestment ministry will take a proposal to this effect to the CCD meeting. The meeting which was originally scheduled for January 15, had to be postponed on account of the Prime Minister
