CEC asks states to update electoral rollsBS Reporter / New Delhi October 08, 2007Amidst speculation over midterm Lok Sabha elections, the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) N Gopalaswamy today asked states to update electoral rolls by January 2008.Gopalaswamy told the chief electoral officers of all the states and union territories to publish the revised electoral rolls by January 15. The CEC gave these directions during the two-day meeting of the state electoral heads, which began here today.A spokesperson of the Commission was eager to clarify that "too much should not be read into the meeting as it was a routine review of the country
