"Central and state governments should devise ways and means for the development of tourist industry by introducing "Rehbar-i-Sayahat" (tourist volunteers) and provide finances and appropriate management to take the industry to new heights," she said interacting with a delegation of unemployed tourism and hotel management youth here.
She said the government should take steps to introduce "Rehbar-i-Sayahat" scheme to absorb the unemployed educated youth and provide management for the full development of this industry.
J&K, known for its scenic beauty the world over, has tremendous potential for development of a viable tourism industry, which could provide lakhs of jobs to the youths of the state, Mehbooba said.
She said there was lot of scope to develop the vast areas of the state which could attract tourists from all over the world which have remained "untouched and unexploited" so far.
