APRLP is a multilateral programme of the AP government, the department of rural development and Panchayat Raj, Government of India, partnered by Department for International Development (DFID), UK. |
APRLP is the largest rural programme to join an ongoing programme -- AP's Drought-Prone Areas Programme. Led by its programme co-ordinator SP Tucker, it took up a pilot project in 208 villages before scaling it up in 2,000 ongoing and completed watersheds in the same area. |
One of the innovations by it relates to community and SHG networks becoming programme implementation agencies. DWCRA women are keenly taking part in the programme. The state government has also approved of the guidelines developed by APRLP for all current and future watersheds with community participation. |
