The Centre has decided to take a fresh look at the threat perception from the Naxalites and other ultra groups to mines owned by both the government as well as the private sector across the country, in the backdrop of the Naxalite attack on the bauxite mines of Nalco.
Officials of the mines ministry met those of the home ministry in New Delhi yesterday. A follow-up is scheduled for April 20.
The agenda of the meeting was to prepare a comprehensive security plan to ward off terrorist threat to mines, particularly those in the susceptible areas. The home ministry has a list of such mines, which is updated every year.
