Power regulator Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) today said the new tariff regulations for five years would be out in a fortnight.
"The new tariff regulations would be announced in the next fifteen days," CERC Chairman Pramod Deo told PTI.
"We are trying to tighten efficiency norms so that consumers get the benefit out of it," he added.
The terms and conditions of tariff for 2009-14 would help to minimise micro management and lead to softer regulation regime.
CERC had recently sought information on technical parameters from all power generating firms to ascertain the future demand for transmission services.
It has asked the generating companies to coordinate with the central and state transmission utilities for transmission of the electricity generated by it.
To facilitate the implementation of the provisions, CERC in its order dated June 4, 2008 had demanded the power generating firms to furnish the technical details in a notified format at least three years prior to the projected date of commissioning of first unit of the power station.
CERC would also soon open its doors for an inter-state open access system to procure power as part of measures to improve the energy crisis prevailing in Tamil Nadu.
