The Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute has begun accepting registrations from India for the CFA exams, scheduled in June and December this year. |
The candidates, however, will have to take the exams at 175 centres outside India since the institute ceased operations in the country by not registering fresh candidates for its Level One course in September 2007. |
A communication posted on the institute's India website said: "We will now permit people within India to enroll in the CFA programme and register to sit for the June and December 2008 exams at test centres outside India. We have revised our online registration process to reflect this availability." |
The CFA Institute, however, has emphasised it has not received approval from the All Indian Councial for Technical Education (AICTE) to offer the CFA exams at test centres in India as the programme is not registered with the AICTE. Earlier this month, the CFA institute met with AICTE to seek approval for its India operations. |
The Delhi High Court in December had dismissed the CFA Institute's petition against the AICTE citing that the institute should seek the technical education regulator's approval to operate in India. |
The institute, however, had argued that it did not need an AICTE clearance to operate in India, as it neither offered a degree or a diploma in CFA, nor was it running an institute or university in the country. |
