With the state cabinet granting “in principle” approval to master plan drafted by Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh Development Authority (BBNDA) things could finally fall in order for the Baddi Barotiwala Nalagarh region, that has witnessed haphazard construction especially after the industrialisation boom in these towns.

With cabinet giving approval to the master plan drafted by BBNDA, officials maintain that the master plan would be kept in all relevant places including BBN industries office, Nagar Panchayat office for public viewing so that objections and complaints if any regarding master plan could be received.

Once the process of receiving suggestions and complaints gets over, the relevant suggestion would be incorporated in the master plan as the work would get underway.

The master plan that would act as catalyst for developing 318 sq km area in the Baddi Barotiwala Nalagarh belt would be implemented in three phases and applicable up till 2035.

Explaining the necessity of master plan for BBN region, the BBNDA officials maintained that with more than 200 medium and large scale units and around 800 Small Scale Units(SSI) operational in BBN area the state government expects more industries thronging the industrial corridor of state in near future.

In view of high growth potential of the area the master plan could be important tool for balanced development of the region. The master plan attempts to facilitate pattern of development that can accommodate the area’s share of projected population with stressing the carrying capacity of land and to provide ecologically sensitive and cultural vibrant development proposals.

Talking to Business Standard, Deputy Chief Executive Officer BBNDA Baldev Thakur revealed that apart from working on implementing of the master plan the BBNDA authorities were also in process of floating the tenders for constructing the Transport Nagar on Build Operate Transfer (BOT) basis.

The Transport Nagar would have provision for work-shops for transport vehicles that would reduce the hazardous parking before workshops now functioning at various places in the area.

The main facilities proposed to be covered under this scheme includes Parking facility, Ware- housing facility, Service stations, Weigh bridge, Filling stations, Commercial areas.
