Even as exporters are creating a furore over the new drawback rates which came into force last week, the government is unlikely to make major changes to the schedule.
Finance ministry officials told Business Standard that the drawback rates for the garment sector were finalised after taking into consideration all aspects including over-invoicing by some exporters and it would be difficult to increase the rates for the current year to the level that exporters are demanding. They, however, did not rule out the possibility of some minor amendments.
