Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan today said he would meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in Delhi tomorrow to seek waiver of import duty on sugar and permission for export of cotton bales and yarn.
Chavan will be accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Cooperation Minister Harshvardhan Patil and Agriculture Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil.
He would also meet senior Union ministers, including Defence Minister A K Antony, Chavan said. “Issues of waiving off import duty on sugar and creation of a buffer stock, and also permission for export of cotton and yarn, will be discussed,” he added.
With Antony, he would discuss setting up defence production units in the state, the chief minister said.
