Chhattisgarh Housing Board (CHB) will develop three big colonies in Raipur and Bhilai with an estimated cost of Rs 1200 crore.

The booking for houses will start later this month or early next month.

The colonies will come up in new capital area and Boriyakala in Raipur and Ruabandha in Bhilai, about 40 km from here.

According to board officials, the land acquisition process is in final stage and after the booking formalities end, construction work will start.

In Bhilai, board has identified 130 acres behind sector-9 for developing a satellite township.

"Since Bhilai faces severe shortage of houses, the board plans to construct 3500 houses and flats in the range of Rs 3 lakh to Rs 60 lakh," the officials said. The board will build the first colony in the new capital that will come up about 20 kms from the existing one.

The 2400 houses and flats proposed in the new capital will range from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 35 lakh.

Of the total houses and flats, 1200 will be reserved for the government employees.

The third housing project of the board will be developed in Boriyakala not far from here.

About 3000 houses will be constructed with an estimated cost of Rs 400 crore.

The site was close to the location of the proposed new capital city.

Board officials said they expected a good response.

The booking for houses and flats will start by January 2008.

After the booking, construction on all the three projects would start in a few months, the officials promised.
