The alleged dilly-dally attitude of Indian Railway had left hanging two over-bridges on prominent rail section in Chhattisgarh in s balance.

At present, construction work of three Railway Over-Bridges (ROBs) is in progress in different parts of Chhattisgarh. While the state government takes up the bridge construction work on either side of the tracks, the railway engineers the construction work on the portion above the rail lines.

"The work on Akaltara and Chakrabhata ROBs could not be completed despite it started five years ago," Chhattisgarh's Public Works Department Minister Brijmohan Agrawal informed in the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly on Thursday. The work on Janjgir ROB had started in January this year.

The Minister said the department had completed the work on its part and the left over work on the ROBs was to be engineered by the Indian Railway. Both the projects come under the jurisdiction of South East Central Railway (SECR) headquartered at Bilaspur.

"The state government employees cannot be blamed for the delay," Agrawal said, adding that the delay had been on the part of railway officials. The state government officials had been holding quarterly meeting with the railway officials to review the progress of the project and its early completion, he added.

Railway spokesperson in Bilaspur however did not respond to the query sent for its version on the issue.

The work on ROB project in Akaltara started on February 6, 2008. The estimated cost of the project was been Rs 765.18 crore. The Chakarbhata ROB project was sanctioned in November 2004 with an estimated cost of Rs 1045.48 crore and the construction work started on March 20, 2008.
