Chhattisgarh govt to approach corporates for skill development

The government had enacted the law by getting the bill passed from the legislative assembly

Chhattisgarh government is mooting a plan to involve the big corporate having business interests in the state in its skill development scheme launched for the youths.

After being the first state to introduce right to food act, the mineral-rich Chhattisgarh state has also first to its credit to bestow legal rights to the youths to get skill development training. The government had enacted the law by getting the bill passed from the legislative assembly.

Under the provision of the act providing skill development right to the youths, any person between the age of 15 and 45 years demanding training in skill development would be provided the same by the State government within 90 days.

The practice opened new employment opportunity for the youths and helped in rapid development of Chhattisgarh.

The state government is now mooting a plan to involve the big business houses in the scheme to ensure that the youths get placement option in the corporate having operations in the state.

"The parleys are on with the public-sector companies including National Mineral Development Corporation, National Thermal Power Corporation, South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), and Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) to involve in the scheme," a senior state official said.

The government would consider involving the private sector companies in the scheme later. The official explained that the companies collaborating with the state government for the scheme would ensure that the youths getting training under the programme would get employment opportunity in the facility.

The state government had set a target of providing skill development training to 168,000 youths across the 27 districts in the state in the current financial year 2013-14.
