The Chhattisgarh government is planning to take up extensive work of building Railway Over Bridge (ROB) and Railway Under Bridge (RUB) in the state in this financial year.
The public works department had prepared the project proposals of building 12 ROB and 13 RUB in the financial year 2012-13. A part of the project cost would be bore by the Indian Railways as part of the provision.
“The total project cost would be about Rs 120 crore,” state’s public works department minister Brijmohan Agrawal said. The department had made a provision of Rs 17 crore in the budget outlay for the 2012-13 to kick off the work, he added.
Of the proposed ROB include the one near Shankar Nagar in the state capital that would facilitate uninterrupted traffic movement to the Chhattisgarh Vidhan Sabha (Legislative Assembly). The ROB would be built on Raipur-Waltier route that has heavy train traffic of goods wagon loaded with minerals.
The frequent closure of railway gate had been obstructing the vehicular movement on the route that normally the ministers, legislators and bureaucrats take to reach the state legislative assembly.
The department had also planned a number of projects for the steel city of Bhilai that houses plant of Steel Authority of India Limited’s.
Three RUB would be constructed in Bhilai city at different places including Supela, Sirsagate and Bhilai Power House.
