In a bid to generate employment opportunity in the state, the Chhattisgarh government is planning to develop a Plastic Park with state-of-the-art infrastructure.
The state cabinet has approved the proposal and within six month, the work to develop the Plastic Park will start, a senior official with the department of industry told Business Standard.
The department had identified a place near Tildaabout, about 30 km from Raipur, for the project. The Plastic Park would be developed on 75 to 100 acres of land in the first phase, the official said, adding that it would be expanded later in the second phase seeing the demand from the investors.
Besides agriculture equipment, the park would house the units producing sprinklers, pipes, tubes and other plastic items.
The official said that the main objective of developing the Park would be to promote the development and growth of the plastics industry in the mineral-rich state of Chhattisgarh. It would also project the state as a potential investment hub for plastics. {
The state government expects a good number of plastic processing units in the Park that will generate direct and indirect employment to the local people. The department has received applications from about two dozen industries, the official said. Many industrialists from other states have shown keen interest to invest in the project. The official said the industrialists would be given benefits under the states industrial policy and no special grant or incentives would be given for the investors in the Plastic Park.
