Chhattisgarh's economy to grow at 7%: Survey

The per capita income, according to advance estimates, is likely to reach Rs 81,756 in FY16 as compared to Rs 73,758 in FY15

As per the advance estimate, the Gross State Domestic Product (market price) at constant price is likely to grow at 7.07% over the previous year 2014-15, says the economic survey of mineral-rich Chhattisgarh state.

The economic survey for the year 2015-16 was tabled in the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly on Tuesday afternoon. The growth in the agriculture sector (agriculture, livestock, forestry and fishing), industry sector (mining and quarrying, construction, manufacturing and electricity, gas & water supply) and service sector are expected to grow 0.47%, 7.07% and 9.81% respectively over the previous year.

The GSDP at current price (market price) is likely to increase to Rs 2,51,447 crore in the year 2015-16 from Rs 2,22,990 crore as estimated for the year 2014-15. In the period, Gross State Value Added (basic prices) is expected to increase from Rs 2,10,813 crore to Rs 2,34,793 crore, agriculture sector (agriculture, livestock, forestry and fishing) from Rs 42,652 crore to Rs 47,778 crore, industry sector (mining and quarrying, construction, manufacturing and electricity, gas & water supply) from Rs 90,828 crore to Rs 98,625 crore and service sector from Rs 77,332 crore to Rs 88,390 crore.

Quick estimates for the year 2014-15 at constant price, the GSDP (market price) registered a growth of 7.85% over the previous year 2013-14. Gross State Value Added (basic prices), agriculture sector (agriculture, livestock, forestry and fishing), industry sector (mining and quarrying, construction, manufacturing and electricity, gas & water supply) and service sector are estimated to grow at the rate of 7.82%, 9.53%, 7.20% and 7.76% respectively in comparison to the previous year.

The per capita income, according to advance estimates, is likely to reach Rs 81,756 in 2015-16. In 2013-14, it was Rs 66,438 which increased to Rs 73,758 in 2014-15 (quick estimates).
