Even as the government is alluring corporate to invest in the state, Chhattisgarh’s largest university is working on a plan to ensure maximum placement for its alumni

Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University (RSU), Chhattisgarh’s largest and oldest institution of higher education founded in 1964, had constituted an Industry-University Partnership cell to facilitate its plan. The cell would coordinate and prepare a roadmap to explore how industries could help the students passing out from the university.

“We have had meetings with the corporate representatives and briefed them about the courses that we are running in the university,” RSU Vice Chancellor S K Pandey told Business Standard. Ironically, the corporate brass bluntly said the courses offered by the university were of no use for the manpower they would require.

Pandey said they had asked the industrialists to suggest which courses could be introduced in the university that would help the students to get a job in the facilities coming up in the state. “The RSU also offers to accommodate corporate bosses in the university board so as to get good suggestions,” he added.

The University has a sprawling campus in Raipur. The campus of university is spread in 207 acres of land. There are 29 teaching departments in the university while 250 colleges are affiliated to it. In the current academic session, about 200,000 students have enrolled for annual examination.

Endowed with rich minerals, Chhattisgarh is emerging as a friendly destination for the industrialists. With many facilities proposed to come up in the state, university authorities are on move to reap the benefits for its students so that they get placement in the state itself. Pandey said the university had been on an innovation drive; expanding its infrastructure and ensuring best facilities for the students. “We would introduce all the courses as suggested by corporate experts to help our students,” he added.
