"The inflation touching all time high in last 8-10 years had underlined that the much hyped fiscal and monetary management of P Chidambaram failed to yield the desired results," Bardan told reporters in Raipur today afternoon. Chidambaram is a big failure as finance minister of the country, the CPI general secretary fumed.
The Left Front had been providing vital tips to the UPA government (which it support from outside) for arresting inflation. "But the government did not heed to our suggestion and as predicted, the inflation has touched two digit figure," Bardan said, adding that it would further increase to cross 12 per cent.
The UPA government had failed to bring respite to the people even as fuel price also went up. For the government, nuclear deal is more important than rising price of commodities, he added. "The government should fix its priorities as the room has been set to sign the deal," Bardan added.
Even if the deal is sealed, the Left Front would not pull down the government. For, it would solve the problem and people would be forced to face election before schedule, Bardan explained.
