Hyderabad will hereafter be the focal point for Chinese industrialists, investors and as well as visitors. More Chinese leaders and delegations will be visiting the city in the days to come, according to Zhang Yan, ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Peoples Republic of China to India.
Yan, accompanied by a high-level Chinese delegation, called on chief minister, K Rosaiah, here on Thursday. A senior Chinese diplomat, he has been working as China’s ambassador in India since 2007.
According to an official press release, Yan said Hyderabad had emerged as the hub of pharmaceutical industries, information technology, biotechnology and research and development organisations. “We recognise this factor,” he added.
Stating this was his first visit to Andhra Pradesh, he said a 'China Week' would be celebrated in Hyderabad in connection with the 60th anniversary of establishment of India-China diplomatic relations. Films about China and its achievements on various fields would be exhibited on the occasion.
“We are fully aware of the importance of Andhra Pradesh and Hyderabad and the rapid progress made by you in different sectors and let us together move on for mutual cooperation in these fields,” he reportedly told the chief minister.
On his part, the chief minister invited Chinese industrialists and investors to come to the state. “There are vast opportunities here. Come and invest here. We will extend all assistance and cooperation,” Rosaiah said.
